ABOUT THIS REPLANT
Foothills Baptist Church agreed to be replanted through the Calvary Family of Churches, and be renamed Calvary Foothills. Out of God’s abundant grace, He is using us to bring this dying church back to life! God desires and deserves to receive glory, and the primary means He makes this happen is through His beloved Church. God loves bringing dead things back to life. The gospel hinges on the faithfulness of Jesus in His life and death, and the Father’s power to raise Him from the dead and seat Him at His right hand in heaven. Praise the Lord that He wants to use us to participate in His mission of sharing the gospel and saving people! God wants to use you to proclaim Christ’s supremacy over all of life, and partnering with us in serving this church is one practical way you could live out the joy of knowing Jesus!
We don’t deserve your faithful prayers, sacrificial service, or generous financial support, but we know that we can’t do this alone. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us, and we would love to get to know you, and see how you could use your gifts to help make Jesus non-ignorable in Lyons, and to the ends of the earth.
Lyons is a small town situated just past Boulder that you have probably driven through on your way to Estes Park and beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park! It is a quaint, charming, lively little town made up of approximately 2,500 people. Many people have moved from Boulder to Lyons, so the culture of the town is steeped in music, art, and fitness. It is littered with bikers and hikers enjoying the beauty of God’s creation.
Lyons needs a strong, gospel-centered church that will speak the truth in love and demonstrate to the community that Jesus wants to be their Lord, Savior, and greatest joy. As more and more churches are planted in big cities, smaller towns increasingly need biblically faithful churches to display the compassionate grace of Jesus.
Michael and Emily TenBarge
Emily and I love laughing, playing board games, cooking, hiking, golfing, biking, reading, and learning better how to love and serve each other. We have felt God calling us to ministry in a small town for many years now. As we have prepared to replant a dying church, we have been praying that God would provide an opportunity in a thriving town. We want to know, and be known, in a way that shows off the character and nature of God. We believe ministry is a daily work that happens through loving people through the mundane aspects of life. We want to see the same baristas, servers, grocery store clerks, teachers, policemen, etc., so that we can build strong relationships and demonstrate to them the importance of loving Jesus. People are lonely, and we want to hospitably care for them, cook them a meal, invite them to church, and boldly tell them the hope found in knowing Christ.

WHAT IS REPLANTING?
Think of it like this… You were given a plant that was beautiful! Everyone that came to your house complimented you on its size, health, vibrance, and the fragrance was breath-taking. Now one day you noticed the plant was changing. It’s leaves were turning pale yellow and the plant looked slightly withered. You didn’t forget to water it. Maybe someone else watered it too much. Maybe it isn’t getting enough light. You love this plant and you will do whatever it takes to save it! If you don’t act now it is going to die! Quickly you get the plant into a pot where you can get back to the basics. You get good soil in the pot with some quality nutrients. You now can make sure it is getting ample sun shine and water. Deep green color starts to return to the leaves and its strength starts to return. It takes time but it is coming back!
Now replace the flower in a pot to a church in a community. This is “replanting.” There is nothing about a dying church that brings glory to God! As Christians, we need to lock arms and fight to stop the trend of the dying churches in our communities.
Calvary Church is passionate about doing just this thing! We are committed to building off the legacy of a church like Foothills Baptist Church and seeing God do an amazing work through His church in this community! In the analogy above regarding the plant, you didn’t hear it took loud music, smoke machines or a cool new building to make the plant come back to life. It was getting back to the basics of what the plant needed for health… good soil, fresh water and sun shine. It took a person that loves radically to save the plant.
